What Is The Market Telling Us
Hasbro’s shares are not very volatile and have only had 6 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 3 months ago when the stock gained 6.7% on the news that the company reported strong second-quarter financial results that beat Wall Street expectations across the board. Hasbro posted net revenues of $1.14 billion, up 16% year-over-year and surpassing analysts' consensus estimates. The top-line momentum was largely driven by robust 27% growth in its Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming segment. The company's profitability also shined, with an adjusted diluted EPS of $1.28 comfortably beating the consensus estimate of $1.17. A key highlight was the significant improvement in operational efficiency, with the company's operating margin soaring to 22.2%, a stark turnaround from the -81.4% reported in the same quarter last year. Reflecting this momentum, management raised its full-year 2026 outlook reinforcing investor confidence in the company's ongoing strategic turnaround.
Hasbro is up 27.8% since the beginning of the year, and at $106.03 per share, it has set a new 52-week high. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Hasbro’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,165.
