Laurel Employment Law announces that a complaint has been filed against Wells Fargo Bank, National Association on behalf of Richard Khalife, a former Assistant General Counsel-Executive Director who alleges sexual orientation discrimination, mental disability discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination in violation of California's Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and related statutes. The lawsuit was filed on February 4, 2026, in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles (Central District), Case Number 26STCV03639. According to the complaint, Mr. Khalife, an openly gay attorney, began his employment with Wells Fargo in June 2021 and advanced to Assistant General Counsel-Executive Director, leading critical legal functions including Enterprise Change Management Legal, Innovation Legal, and Technology Legal, including the bank’s enterprise-wide AI Legal Working Group. Mr. Khalife had received a "Role Model" performance rating and had previously been personally commended by General Counsel Ellen Patterson for a high-priority regulatory victory.
