ISAP2026 - The 18th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) is set to host the 18th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2026). For the first time, ISAP will be held in Kansai under the overall theme, ‘Strengthening Local Resilience to Planetary Crises: Scaling up Synergistic Solutions’. The Plenary Sessions (hybrid) will take place on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, at the Lasse Hall in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, while the Thematic Tracks* will be held online from August to October 2026.
ISAP2025 - The 17th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) is set to host the 17th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2025). This year, the Plenary Sessions will be held on Tuesday, 29 July 2025 at Pacifico Yokohama as a hybrid event, with both in-person and online participation. The Thematic Tracks will also take place online from August to October 2025.

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) will host the 16th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2024). This year, the Plenary Sessions will be held on Tuesday, 23 July 2024 at Pacifico Yokohama as a hybrid event, with participation in-person and online. In addition, the Thematic Tracks will be held online from July to November 2024.
Announcing the Establishment of the Technical Support Unit for the IPBES Task Force on Scenarios and Models of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in IGES
On Friday 1 March 2024, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, established the Technical Support Unit (TSU) for the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) Task Force on Scenarios and Models of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. The TSU will be located in IGES Tokyo Sustainability Forum (TSF).

The Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership (A6IP) Center to collaborate with IETA to advance private sector engagement in international high integrity carbon markets
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), which serves as the secretariat of the Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership (A6IP) Center, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), building on their common goals and objectives to implement and enhance the market mechanisms stipulated in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) is proud to announce the start of operations for the “Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership (A6IP) Center”. The A6IP Center was established by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) in response to an endorsement by this year’s G7 Ministers' Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment held in Sapporo in April.

Southeast Asian civil society pushes for stronger Paris climate pledges
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), together with Manila-based think tank, the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC), and civil society organisations across Southeast Asia, backed by the Climate Change Commission of the Philippines, called for urgent and significant delivery of Paris climate commitments to help communities, especially the most vulnerable, survive and thrive amid the climate crisis.
Establishment of the Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership Center
The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) will serve as the secretariat of the "Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership Center" to be established by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan and welcomed at the G7 Ministers' Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment in Sapporo earlier this month. The goal of the Center is to promote a capacity building programme which aims to assist participating parties in developing institutional arrangements to establish high integrity carbon markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
