Flytrex Receives FAA Approval for Beyond Visual Line of Sight Operations, Positioning Company for Nationwide Expansion
The Flytrex system has been approved by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, becoming only the fourth drone delivery provider authorized for such operations in the United States. This approval enables Flytrex to expand its service nationwide to the 37 largest metro areas in the U.S. — unlocking the ability to bring drone delivery to over 100 million people.
DoorDash and Flytrex Launch Drone Delivery in Dallas-Fort Worth
DoorDash (
NYSE: DASH) and Flytrex today announced the launch of their drone delivery service in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, expanding upon a successful pilot program. Customers in parts of Little Elm and Frisco can now order food from dozens of local and national restaurants, including from Papa Johns King Road location and The Brass Tap, between 8:00am and 9:30pm, with delivery via Flytrex’s autonomous drone fleet.
Flytrex, Wing Implement Commercial Strategic Flight Coordination in Overlapping Airspace in the U.S.
Flytrex and Wing have each implemented the Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) Strategic Coordination standard in the United States with a first-of-its-kind application into daily flight operations near Dallas, Texas. The work is part of a broader industry-FAA collaboration establishing the foundations for a national UTM ecosystem. The two drone delivery companies are first among several drone operators to further integrate into the airspace by automating the separation of commercial drone flights in low-altitude shared airspace.
