PetroChina Guangdong (PetroChina), a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, has successfully completed and surpassed all performance guarantees for its groundbreaking 595 thousand metric tons per annum (KMTA) STRATCO® alkylation unit. These guarantees cover crucial aspects such as alkylate yield, research octane number (RON), motor octane number (MON), acid consumption, D-86 end point, and Reid vapor pressure (Rvp). The completion of the performance test period for the STRATCO® alkylation unit allows PetroChina to adhere to China VI quality specifications in their gasoline pool, contributing to the sustainable development of China’s energy landscape.

Essar Oil UK Limited (Essar) has selected Belco Technologies Corporation (BELCO), a subsidiary of Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent), to provide a gas cleaning system as part of the EET Industrial Carbon Capture Plant at the Stanlow refinery. This partnership marks a significant milestone in Essar's commitment to achieving substantial reductions in carbon emissions from refinery operations.

The Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex (Kamoa-Kakula), a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines, Zijin Mining Group and the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has partnered with Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent) to install a new 2,500 metric tonne per day (MTPD) smelter off-gas MECS® sulfuric acid plant. In conjunction with global EPC partner, China Nerin Engineering Co. Ltd. (NERIN), the new acid plant will be part of a new 500,000-tonnes-per-annum direct-to-blister flash copper smelter that is under construction at Kamoa-Kakula, as part of its Phase 3 expansion. Upon completion of the Phase 3 expansion, Kamoa-Kakula is projected to be the fourth largest copper operation globally.

MECS Chemical Plants Equipment (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. (MECS Shanghai), a subsidiary of Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent), has been recognized with the prestigious "A+ Supplier" and "Excellent Supplier" awards by Jiangxi Copper Group Co., Ltd. (Jiangxi Copper), one of the world's largest integrated copper producers and the largest producer in Mainland China. The awards were presented during a ceremony held at the Jiangxi Copper headquarters in Nan Chang City, China where MECS Shanghai was recognized for exceptional contributions to the industry.

Global copper company First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (First Quantum) has contracted with MECS, Inc. (MECS), a subsidiary of Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent), for the Kansanshi Smelter Expansion at the Kansanshi Mine in Solwezi, Zambia. The MECS scope will include a redesign of the existing sulfur-burning sulfuric acid plant into a copper smelter off-gas recovery sulfuric acid plant. This transition to a copper smelter off-gas recovery acid plant will enable First Quantum to reduce emissions from the existing copper smelter, increase production at the mine, and supply more copper to the global market which will enable the adoption of greener technologies.

The third quarter marked an important milestone for Chilean oil refiner ENAP Refinerías S.A. (ENAP) with the successful startup of their newly installed BELCO® wet gas scrubber at the Aconcagua Refinery located in Concón, Chile. This is the second BELCO® wet gas scrubber installed on an ENAP fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) with the first one commissioned in 2019 at the Bío Bío Refinery.

Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent) announces the signing of license and engineering contracts with Trafigura for the construction of a state-of-the-art 125 Sm3/h (18,870 BPSD) IsoTherming® diesel hydrotreater at the Bahía Blanca Refinery located in Argentina. The addition of the IsoTherming® diesel hydrotreater will revolutionize the refining capabilities of the Bahía Blanca Refinery, which currently operates on domestic crude sourced from the Vaca Muerta and other regions of Argentina. This groundbreaking project represents a major investment by Trafigura in expanding the refinery’s diesel capacity and enhancing its ability to produce and sell ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) domestically. This move will also position the refinery to meet the upcoming regulation that requires a reduction in the maximum sulfur content in ULSD to 10ppm.

Taiwanese refinery, CPC Taoyuan (CPC), was the recent recipient of the 22nd Public Construction Golden Quality Award for the successful startup and continuous operation of an MECS® DynaWave® wet gas scrubbing system for flare gas desulfurization. CPC partnered with Mascol Engineering, Co., Ltd., and Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent) for the design and provision of the MECS® DynaWave® system that features reverse jet scrubbing nozzles technology which was designed to remove hydrogen sulfide and wastewater chemical oxygen demand (COD) using high efficiency soda scrubbing.

SAR Technology Inc. (SAR Inc.), located in Tainan, Taiwan, has contracted with MECS, Inc. (MECS), a subsidiary of Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent), for the supply of MECS® proprietary technology and equipment in support of a new spent acid regeneration plant. By incorporating MECS® sulfuric acid recovery technology in its electronic grade sulfuric acid plant, SAR Inc. will position themselves as a reliable supplier of regenerable high purity sulfuric acid and will be able to provide significant support to the semiconductor industry in Taiwan which is the world’s largest consumption country of e-grade sulfuric acid.

Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Co., Ltd (Sinopec), China’s largest integrated refining-chemical enterprise, has contracted with MECS, Inc. (MECS) and MECS Chemical Plants Equipment (Shanghai) Co., LTD., subsidiaries of Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent), for the license, design, engineering, and equipment for a spent sulfuric acid regeneration plant. This plant will be located at Sinopec’s petrochemical complex in Ningbo, Zhenhai province, People’s Republic of China. The spent acid regeneration plant will be built in conjunction with Sinopec’s planned expansion of its sulfuric acid alkylation and acrylonitrile facilities at the Ningbo site.

MECS, Inc. (MECS), a subsidiary of Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent), was contracted for the provision of an MECS® sulfuric acid plant by Lithium Americas Corp. (LAC). The new 3,000 MTPD sulfuric acid plant will feature MECS® HRS™ technology to harness waste heat for steam generation which will be converted to carbon free energy. The new plant will be located at Lithium Americas’ Thacker Pass operation which is the largest lithium carbonate processing plant in North America and is fully permitted for construction.

MECS, Inc. (MECS), a subsidiary of Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent), is the licensor of choice for the production of high purity sulfur trioxide and oleum that is required for high purity e-grade acid production used in the rapidly growing semiconductor industry. Ninety percent (90%) of e-grade acid plants in the key production countries of Taiwan, Korea, United States, and Japan have selected MECS® technology and equipment to ensure the most reliable production of these critical e-grade acid feedstocks. Further solidifying the company’s foothold in the marketplace and deepening the experience gap among competitors, MECS was recently selected to supply propriety technology and equipment to clients in the U.S. and Taiwan to enable production of high-purity e-grade acid for the global market.

Indonesian mining company PT Amman Mineral Industri (AMIN) has partnered with Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent) for the provision of a new smelter off-gas MECS® sulfuric acid plant equipped with MECS® DynaWave® wet gas scrubbing technology. The new plant will be constructed in Sumbawa, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia with anticipated startup in 2024.

Brazilian chemical maker Unigel RI (Unigel) – one of Latin America's largest chemical companies and Brazil's top manufacturer of nitrogen fertilizers – has contracted with MECS, Inc. (MECS), a subsidiary of Elessent Clean Technologies, for the construction of a new sulfur burning sulfuric acid plant to displace the import of sulfuric acid for their downstream chemical processes. The new plant will be constructed in the coastal state of Bahia. With sustainability as a core value, Unigel’s new plant will also be used to generate utility steam that will provide reliable and carbon-free power throughout their industrial complex.

Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent), global leader in sulfuric acid technologies, announces the opening of a new office in Jakarta, Indonesia. The new office will be a core maintenance and reliability (M&R) solutions provider for sulfuric acid plants in the region, as well as provide a full scope of technical services to customers. Elessent’s Jakartan subsidiary name is PT MECS MandR Solution, and its official establishment date was December 7, 2022.

Refi Pampa SA (RefiPampa) has signed agreements with Elessent Clean Technologies (Elessent) for the license and basic engineering of a new IsoTherming® Diesel Hydrotreating and Dewaxing Unit. The grassroots hydrotreater will be installed at the RefiPampa facility in La Pampa, Argentina. In order to comply with the latest fuel specifications in Argentina to meet Grade 3 diesel specifications by 2024, RefiPampa commissioned Elessent for an IsoTherming® diesel hydrotreating and dewaxing unit with a target capacity of 62.6 m3/hr (9,450 BPSD).
