Day Pitney LLP’s partners elected Michael P. Byrne as Managing Partner of the firm, effective April 2. Byrne succeeds Gregory A. Hayes, who is stepping down as Managing Partner and will focus exclusively on his private client practice. Hayes served eight years on the firm’s Executive Committee, including three years as Managing Partner.

Day Pitney LLP is pleased to announce the completion of its merger with Rhode Island-based law firm Howland Evangelista Kohlenberg LLP, a dedicated trusts and estates boutique handling complex and sophisticated planning, probate, and trust matters for high net worth individuals and families. Eight attorneys, including name partners Renée A. R. Evangelista and A. Max Kohlenberg, have joined the firm’s Individual Clients department, growing its ranks to nearly 80 attorneys. The combined firm is retaining all of Howland Evangelista Kohlenberg’s personnel, as well as the existing office in Providence. Evangelista will be the Managing Partner of the Providence office.
