NEUSTADT BEI COBURG, Germany - July 28, 2025 - Excedify today announced the release of its new AI-powered FMEA tool, available free of charge as part of the company’s expanding engineering software platform.
The tool is designed to help engineering and quality teams create, structure, and maintain Failure Mode and Effects Analyses more efficiently. Integrated into EXC PLM, Excedify’s product lifecycle management platform, it connects FMEA activities with product structures, parts, assemblies, and Bill of Materials data.
Unlike isolated spreadsheets and standalone FMEA documents, the Excedify FMEA tool allows risk analysis to become part of the wider product-development process. Engineers can work directly with structured product information and maintain a clearer connection between product functions, potential failure modes, causes, controls, and recommended actions.
AI-Assisted FMEA Development
The integrated AI functionality supports users while developing an FMEA by providing contextual suggestions for areas such as:
- Product and process functions
- Potential failure modes
- Failure effects and causes
- Prevention and detection controls
- Recommended risk-reduction actions
The AI serves as an engineering assistant rather than replacing technical judgment. Users remain responsible for reviewing, validating, and approving all FMEA content.
“FMEA is one of the most important risk-management methods in engineering, but it is still frequently managed through disconnected spreadsheets,” said Yaser Moharam, CEO of Excedify. “Our goal is to make professional FMEA software accessible to every engineer and to connect risk analysis directly with product and PLM data.”
Integrated with Product Structures and BOM Management
The FMEA tool is integrated with the EXC PLM environment, enabling users to link risk analyses with relevant components, assemblies, and product structures.
This integration helps organizations:
- Improve traceability between FMEA content and product data
- Reduce duplicated information across engineering systems
- Maintain FMEAs as products and designs evolve
- Support collaboration between engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams
- Establish a stronger foundation for connected quality processes
The release forms part of Excedify’s broader strategy to combine engineering education with practical software tools. Excedify also provides professional training in FMEA, GD&T, engineering drawings, APQP, design of experiments, and other engineering and quality disciplines.
Free Access
The Excedify FMEA tool is available free of charge, including access to its AI-assisted functionality. Users can create an account and begin building FMEAs through the EXC PLM platform.
The free release is intended to give students, individual engineers, consultants, startups, and established engineering organizations access to modern FMEA capabilities without the initial cost barriers associated with traditional enterprise software.
Additional PLM and organizational capabilities may be introduced as the platform continues to develop.
