-- Running from July 17 to August 15, the 36th Qingdao International Beer Festival is transforming Qingdao into a month-long celebration of beer, culture and festivity across three venues in the West Coast New Area, the historic downtown and Laoshan District.

The 36th Qingdao International Beer Festival draws huge crowds to the lively Golden Beach Beer City.

Rooted in the city's century-old brewing heritage and coastal culture, the festival has evolved from a seasonal event into an international urban brand, showcasing Qingdao's openness and charm to the world.

At the Golden Beach Beer City in the West Coast New Area, dubbed as the world's largest beer-themed square, visitors can explore more than 2,300 varieties of beer from around the world and enjoy over 2,000 themed activities. With international beer tents, cultural performances, creative markets and robotic services, the venue combines traditional beer culture with modern technology and entertainment.

Nigerian content creator Oluwabunmi Jimoh joined the Beer King drinking competition and was fascinated by the carnival-like atmosphere and inclusive culture. He expressed his wish to return with his family next year to experience Qingdao's summer charm.

Beyond the lively carnival, Qingdao's historic downtown reveals another side of the city — its heritage and cultural depth. Historic neighborhoods such as Guangxingli and areas around Zhongshan Road blend European-style architecture, traditional courtyard culture and beer elements, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's past and everyday life.

"This place is truly unique and rich in history. Best of all, history meets beer culture here," said Ukrainian creator Karyna Kovalevska.

At the Laoshan venue, the festival takes on a more poetic character, where beer culture meets mountains and the sea. Surrounded by natural scenery, the venue features cultural and creative markets, leisure spaces and immersive experiences, creating a unique combination of "visiting Laoshan Mountain by day and enjoying beer by night."

Together, the three venues showcase different dimensions of Qingdao — from its brewing traditions and historic neighborhoods to its natural landscapes and cultural heritage.

Qingdao is home to Tsingtao Brewery, one of China's oldest and most renowned beer manufacturers. Today, it ranks as the world's fifth-largest beer producer, with its products exported to over 120 countries and regions, standing as a proud symbol of Qingdao's brewing heritage and global reach.

With every toast, Qingdao continues to connect with the world and brew new vitality into its urban development.
