Rites of Passage has announced a 9-day Men's Vision Quest near Salida, Colorado, offering a nature-based rite of passage that guides men through solitude, fasting, and ceremony across three distinct phases.

-- Rites of Passage has announced a 9-day Men's Vision Quest near Salida, Colorado, scheduled for June 20 to June 28, 2026. The program is designed as a ceremonial rite of passage for men of different ages, structured around three phases: preparation, solo wilderness time, and reintegration into community. It draws on an anthropologically recognized ceremonial framework that has been observed across cultures for generations.

Rites of Passage has been guiding men through wilderness programs since 1977. The June 2026 program draws on that experience to offer a framework for men seeking clarity or a more intentional transition into the next stage of life. According to the organization, the journey unfolds across three named phases — Severance, Threshold, and Incorporation — each serving a distinct function in the overall process.
The first phase, Severance, spans the opening three days and prepares participants for time alone in the wilderness. It includes group Council sessions, wilderness safety instruction, teachings on eco-spiritual practices such as the Four Directions, and personal intention-setting. The goal of this phase, according to Rites of Passage, is to help participants step away from the habits and assumptions of everyday life before entering the solo period.

The second phase, Threshold, spans days four through six. Each participant spends three full days and nights alone in the wilderness, with fasting, journaling, silence, and self-generated ceremony forming the core of the solo period. Rites of Passage describes this stage as one in which nature functions not as a backdrop but as an active part of the process.
The final phase, Incorporation, brings participants back into the group. Each man shares the story of his solo time in Council, and guides help translate that experience into practical insight intended to carry into daily life.
A Rites of Passage spokesperson said, "These deep transformational journeys into nature and the hearts of men have had an enormous impact on those who found the courage to say yes to the inner call."
Scholarships are available for qualifying participants, and the program also includes pre-trip and post-trip online meetings to support the full experience from preparation through integration.
Rites of Passage has guided adults through ceremonial wilderness programs since 1977, operating the Wilderness Quest program, among others. The organization's work focuses on nature-based transformation, human connection with the natural world, and supporting meaningful personal change.
