New Alternative Fuel Ignition Systems Introduced to the Chinese Commercial Vehicle Market Following PHINIA’s First-Ever Acquisition
-- PHINIA Inc. (NYSE: PHIN), a leader in premium fuel systems, electrical systems, and aftermarket solutions, will highlight its latest developments in zero-carbon, hydrogen and high-efficiency fuel systems at Automechanika Shanghai 2025 (Booth No. 2.1H E48).

At the landmark automotive industry exhibition, PHINIA unveiled a range of hydrogen fuel injection systems, including the DI-CHG direct-injection hydrogen fuel system. PHINIA’s hydrogen solutions cover low-pressure, medium-pressure, and high-pressure variants. The variety in product enables them to be suitable across diverse scenarios such as hydrogen internal combustion engines, stationary power generation, and motorsports.
Most recently, PHINIA's European team completed thousands of hours of on-road testing, with a single vehicle traveling nearly 300,000 kilometers to verify the system's reliability and durability. PHINIA also supplied DI-CHG direct hydrogen injectors for Alpine's Alpenglow hydrogen-powered prototype vehicle, enabling zero-emissions and high-performance motorsports while maintaining optimal performance.
Additionally, PHINIA exhibited its latest powertrain domain controller unit (PECU), PECU300. To align with industry demand for centralized automotive electronic and electrical architectures, the PHINIA solution integrates its leading engine control unit (ECU) with its transmission control unit (TCU) and vehicle control unit (VCU) into one system. Developed based on the AUTOSAR architecture, this system features a platform-based software design to shorten development cycles and reduce costs. The solution delivers faster fuel-electric switching response times and achieves breakthrough range extender efficiency to lower carbon emissions, while ensuring compliance with global safety and cybersecurity standards.
The Automechanika Shanghai exhibition also marked a crucial milestone in the company’s integration of Swedish Electromagnet Invest AB (“SEM”), following PHINIA’s first-ever acquisition in August 2025. At the event, PHINIA exhibited its new capabilities in advanced alternative fuel ignition systems for both on- and off-road commercial and industrial engines, with new hydrogen ignition systems including FlexiSpark. Through the acquisition, PHINIA offers Chinese customers end-to-end solutions covering fuel systems, electrical systems, and advanced ignition systems.
Finally, PHINIA displayed its technological capabilities in the original equipment (OE) market for the Chinese aftermarket sector. Leveraging its robust OE technical background, PHINIA's Delphi brand was on-site at Automechanika Shanghai to demo its full range of aftermarket end-to-end solutions from components to sophisticated software solutions, providing technical support to local commercial and passenger vehicle customers.
Hank Yang, Vice President & General Manager of PHINIA Fuel Systems Asia-Pacific commented: “Guided by our vision of advancing sustainability today to power a cleaner tomorrow, PHINIA is committed to helping Chinese customers reduce their carbon footprint through technological innovation, localized production, remanufacturing operations, and more. We will continue to advance the efficiency and sophistication of our fuel system solutions, upgrade PECUs for centralization and greater intelligence, and further invest in alternative fuel technologies that utilize hydrogen and other zero- and lower-carbon fuels. PHINIA is committed to collaborating with Chinese partners to contribute to a cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable mobility ecosystem.”
