Handling billions of files a month for the teams that build on it, Uploadcare is the file infrastructure you run once and leave running

Uploadcare, used by more than 10,000 teams globally, today announced new brand and strategic positioning as “the infrastructure behind every file,” better reflecting its role as the foundational layer developers rely on to upload, store, transform and deliver images, video and documents at scale.

Rather than introducing a new product, Uploadcare is sharpening the definition of what it already does: Handling the ongoing complexity of file operations so development teams can concentrate on building customer-facing experiences.

A platform is a place you go to and manage things inside. Infrastructure is the layer you build on and stop thinking about. Teams shipping with AI-assisted coding move faster and hit the scaling wall sooner, and file handling is one of those walls. Uploadcare's answer is to sit underneath, whether a team drops in no-code, wires up the full API or hands the work to a coding agent.

“AI cut the cost of building software, not the resources needed to run it,” said Tolya Chernyakov, CPO and co-founder of Uploadcare. “Building an uploader is easy. Keeping it reliable, secure and fast at scale is the part that never ends. Teams build on us and leave it running.”

Built for Coding Agents

However a team builds, from no-code drop-in to full API and CLI, Uploadcare fits underneath, and for teams building with AI, an agent can wire it in for you:

  • llms.txt helps AI assistants and automated crawlers locate, interpret and use Uploadcare documentation more effectively with a standardized file.
  • Markdown-based documentation provides technical resources in a clean, structured format that simplifies implementation and reference.
  • Copy-to-LLM lets developers give coding assistants the documentation they need to accelerate development with a single click.
  • Onboarding built for modern development supports teams that use coding assistants in their day-to-day development process.
  • Indexed on Context7 makes current documentation available through Context7 so coding assistants can access up-to-date technical references.
  • Command-Line Interface enables developers and coding assistants to integrate Uploadcare and manage operations programmatically.

The company also plans to introduce an MCP server that will allow coding agents to connect directly to Uploadcare and perform operational tasks.

Uploadcare's roadmap also includes an AI Image Editor that will enable developers and users to add, remove or transform elements within images using text prompts through the uploader, a standalone editor or APIs.

The Proof Is In Production

Customers already cite the operational and economic returns of the file infrastructure layer. Shogun, the drag-and-drop page builder for ecommerce, cut image bandwidth costs by 86%, saving just over $200,000 a year, and avoided an additional $200,000 plus three months of engineering by not building the pipeline in-house. “This part of our software is just handled. It's not something we need to worry about,” said CEO and co-founder Finbarr Taylor.

Uploadcare’s production deployments also report significant gains. GemPages, trusted by more than 165,000 Shopify merchants, reclaimed a full engineering week per month by offloading media management and improved page-load speeds by 20% to 30% with Uploadcare. Real estate media platform Aryeo increased uploader reliability from 95.0% to 99.9% after replacing an internally built solution. Marketplace platform Marko launched six weeks faster and now supports more than 4 million images, 10 terabytes of storage and 50 terabytes of monthly traffic through Uploadcare.
