Anthony Hucker, Chairman and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, said, “During this time of year, food represents comfort, connection and the foundation of many special family traditions. Yet, for many neighbors facing food insecurity, the holiday season becomes even more challenging. We are proud once again to join hands with our longtime partner, Feeding America, to ensure the holidays are filled with joy, dignity and the sense of belonging every family deserves. Together, we’re doing more than filling plates – we are strengthening communities, creating hope and showing that small acts of kindness can have a truly profound impact in the lives of our neighbors.”

The grocer launched its holiday giving efforts during November’s Gratitude Month, with the spirit of kindness continuing into December to support Feeding America and Feeding America partner food banks. This impact was driven by the generosity of customers and associates who participated in SEG’s in-store community donation programs by donating $1, $5 or rounding up at checkout. Every cent contributed helps provide warm, nourishing meals for families in need and strengthens the movement to end hunger, which affects more than 47 million people nationwide, according to Feeding America.

Customers at select Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores shared in the goodwill of the season by purchasing the grocer’s “Give a Little, Feed a Lot” pre-packed donation bags filled with nonperishable food, which provided an additional $188,000 in product donations to local food pantries. Last month, SEG’s charitable arm, SEG Gives Foundation, also donated $100,000 to Feeding America – helping provide more than 1 million meals* – and distributed more than 7,000 turkeys and holiday sides directly to families experiencing hunger ahead of Thanksgiving.

To make holiday celebrations easier for customers, Harveys Supermarkets and Winn-Dixie are offering a Holiday Meal Deal in the deli through New Year’s Day. For $39.99, the ready-to-heat-and-serve meal includes a choice of Dietz & Watson carver ham or turkey, four sides from Reser’s (cornbread stuffing, homestyle stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and homestyle gravy) and a 12-count package of King’s Hawaiian rolls. The meal provides a traditional, stress-free holiday feast that is convenient, affordable and delicious.

All Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery and liquor stores will close at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day, reopening for normal business hours Friday, Dec. 26. On New Year’s Eve, stores will operate until 10 p.m. (or regular closing time, if earlier) and resume normal hours on Thursday, Jan. 1.

SEG is proudly helping make the season brighter by continuing to ensure the holidays are a time of warmth, nourishment and hope for families throughout the communities it calls home. The grocer continues its rich legacy of giving back through its enduring commitment to empower, feed and enrich the communities it serves during the holiday season and beyond.
