Samsara Opens New Office in Mexico City to Support Growing Customer and Employee Base

  • 5 of the Top 10 trucking companies in Mexico are Samsara customers
  • More than 200 employees in Mexico, expected to double by end of year

Samsara Inc. ("Samsara") (NYSE: IOT), the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, today announced the opening of its new office in Mexico City. Samsara first entered the Mexican market in 2019 and has grown quickly: five of the top 10 trucking companies in Mexico are now Samsara customers. To meet this increasing demand, Samsara expects to double the number of employees in Mexico this year, investing in business technology, operations, sales, and support roles.

“Our customers in Mexico are leading the way in transforming physical operations across the region,” said Sanjit Biswas, Samsara’s CEO and Co-Founder. “Together, we have a shared focus on enhancing security and keeping drivers safe on the road. Our rapid growth in Mexico shows the strong ROI we provide to our customers. Samsara’s new office will provide a space for in-person collaboration for our growing team as we continue to invest in new product innovations specific to the needs of the Mexico market.”

Samsara’s rapid growth in Mexico has been driven by a culture of innovation and customer focus. Samsara’s multi-application platform is built to solve the most challenging and complex problems faced by physical operations organizations. And the company’s rapidly growing IoT data set and growing ecosystem of third-party systems puts it at the center in enabling AI-driven insights.

In the past year, Samsara has released new features specifically tailored to the Mexico market, including:

  • Immobilizer: stops vehicles automatically when tampering is detected, keeping both drivers and cargo safe.
  • Driver QR Codes: pair drivers with their vehicles through QR codes leading to a better driver experience.
  • AG52 Asset Gateway: can be connected with cargo and door sensors to provide real-time alerts on door activities and the presence of cargo, improving theft detection and prevention.

“For Pilot, Samsara has been an important pillar in our development,” said Gerardo Jiménez, General Director of Autotransportes Pilot. “I think that all transportation companies that want to evolve, modernize, and receive information about what is happening in their operations should use Samsara. It gives you the information you need to make those critical decisions."

Trends in nearshoring and friendshoring have accelerated the trade partnership between Mexico and the U.S. Mexico was the top trading partner for the U.S. in January 2024, and 2023 was the first year in two decades that the U.S. bought more goods from Mexico than China.

“Mexico is a critical component in North America’s supply chain ecosystem,” said Julia Monroy, Samsara Sales Director for Mexico. “And with that comes a rapid increase in demand for technology solutions that address local challenges and can scale across borders. Samsara is uniquely positioned to help customers meet the specific needs of Mexico, while enabling their compliance with applicable requirements when crossing into the U.S.”

The opening ceremony for Samsara’s new office took place in Mexico City and was followed by a panel discussion between David Roman (President of the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies, ANERPV, of Mexico), Sanjit Biswas (CEO and Co-Founder of Samsara), Ángel Hernández (Adjunct General Director at Super Transporte Internacional), and Augusto Ramos (General Director at RAME Group) on the trends and technologies shaping logistics in Mexico.

“Today is a great celebration of our partnership with our customers, and we are looking forward to achieving even more together in the years to come,” remarked Biswas at the opening, speaking to the customers in attendance. Some of the new customers who joined Samsara in the past year include TMS, Grupo Vencedor, and GNP.
