HARTFORD, CT / ACCESS Newswire / September 29, 2026 / The Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA) announced the expansion of its MyCHESLA Grad Loan to include students enrolled in all graduate and professional degree programs, broadening access to affordable financing options for students pursuing advanced degrees. The program complements CHESLA's ongoing efforts to provide competitive alternatives to traditional graduate and professional student loan programs.
With three repayment terms and three in-school repayment options, borrowers can choose from nine fixed-rate offerings designed to provide flexibility. All approved borrowers have equal access to these nine rates, ensuring a consistent and transparent pricing structure. MyCHESLA Grad Loan fixed rates range from 5.50% to 7.99%, depending on the repayment term and in-school repayment option selected. The program offers a cost-effective, borrower-focused alternative to higher-cost private loans, with all available fixed rates also below the current federal Grad PLUS loan rate of 9.07%.
"As the cost of advanced education continues to grow, CHESLA remains focused on providing affordable financing solutions that help students achieve their academic and professional goals," said Denise Aguilera, Interim Executive Director CHESLA.
The MyCHESLA Grad Loan launched on May 14 for students pursuing targeted degrees, including law, healthcare, MBA, and engineering programs. With the program now expanded to include all graduate and professional degrees, it provides support to students pursuing careers in education, social work, public service, and other high-demand fields that impact the state's workforce. "Higher education is a meaningful investment in a student's future," said Josh Hurlock, Deputy Director of CHESLA. "Expanding the MyCHESLA Grad Loan program allows us to support more students as they pursue advanced degrees, while providing access to financing options designed with affordability, flexibility, and transparency."
