SYDNEY CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT, AU / ACCESS Newswire / October 19, 2026 / Artificial intelligence can now create almost anything. But as businesses embrace AI-generated content at unprecedented speed, a critical question is emerging: who is protecting what makes their brands distinctive?
Canadian entrepreneur and Sydney-based founder Lexie Walker has announced the international launch of GentlyAI, an Australian technology company examining how organizations can preserve their distinctive identities as artificial intelligence changes the way businesses create, communicate and engage with customers.
With more than 25 years of marketing experience and more than a decade in software development, Walker founded GentlyAI in response to concerns about how the increasing use of generative AI could affect brand differentiation and the identities that businesses have spent generations building.
"Think about Dior, LEGO, Coca-Cola, Nike, Adidas or The Sydney Morning Herald. These aren't simply logos or marketing assets. They represent generations of creative decisions, innovation, storytelling and distinctive identities that have become recognizable around the world," said Walker, founder and CEO of GentlyAI.
"Whether it's a fashion house, a global consumer brand or a newspaper with almost two centuries of history, each has developed an identity that cannot simply be recreated with a prompt.
"It would be an extraordinary irony if the greatest technological advancement of our generation became the thing that quietly erased what made them distinctive."
Three decades of brand history
GentlyAI was established following Walker's examination of how established brands maintain their identities through changing technologies, markets and consumer expectations.
The company's research includes historical digital brand records dating back to 1996 and a repository covering more than 2,000 established global brands.
The research examines how brand identities evolve over time, with particular attention to the relationship between historical identity, organizational decision-making and the increasing use of artificial intelligence in commercial communications.
The subject has relevance across international industries, including luxury, fashion, financial services, automotive, hospitality, publishing and consumer goods.
Protecting human creativity
Walker believes the implications extend beyond brand consistency.
As artificial intelligence changes creative production, marketing, publishing and luxury industries, businesses face increasingly complex questions about efficiency, employment and the preservation of human expertise.
"You can ask AI to generate something that looks expensive. That doesn't mean it understands luxury.
"Behind the world's great brands are designers, craftspeople, writers, photographers, journalists and strategists. Their judgment and imagination are fundamental to the value those brands represent.
"AI should be the tool in the hands of the craftsperson. It should never become the reason we no longer need the craftsperson."
Walker acknowledges the Australian federal government's efforts to support responsible AI adoption and workforce preparedness, alongside international initiatives in Canada and the European Union addressing skills development, accountability and human oversight.
"Governments have an important role to play, but businesses and technology leaders must also take responsibility. We should be building an AI economy that values human contribution rather than treating it simply as a cost to eliminate."
Built in Australia. Designed for the world.
Sydney-based Walker is completing an Executive MBA at the University of Sydney, where her research examines artificial intelligence's implications for brand identity, differentiation and governance.
"GentlyAI exists because I believe we're moving extraordinarily fast without asking what might be lost.
"AI presents an extraordinary opportunity to make businesses more productive, strengthen economies and open doors that previously didn't exist. But progress shouldn't come at the expense of the people whose skills, creativity and livelihoods have helped build those businesses.
"The future of AI shouldn't simply be about how much we can automate or how many costs we can eliminate. It should be about what we can achieve when human ingenuity and technology work together.
"That's the future I want GentlyAI to help build."
