When an opportunity was presented to Ms. Pellegrino to take over an eDiscovery (electronic discovery) business, she was intimidated, though intrigued. She had experience in paper discovery, but didn't have any in eDiscovery, which largely concerns identifying, collecting, reviewing and producing electronically stored information (ESI) for litigation and investigations.

She overcame her trepidation about being seen as a novice in eDiscovery and committed to learning about the field. Ms. Pellegrino received guidance from industry veterans, attended industry events and sought out resources. Ms. Pellegrino educated herself until she was capable of securing clients independently, which she calls a personal milestone.
Ms. Pellegrino has continued her commitment to expanding her knowledge. One of her most significant accomplishments, she shares, is achieving ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certification for her company. These standards are set to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and consistency across industries. Ms. Pellegrino says it was a steep learning curve, but her leadership guided her team through the "rigorous certification process." The certification has to be renewed every three years and there are yearly audits to ensure compliance. This was a major achievement for Ms. Pellegrino, the team and the company, as ISO certification demonstrates the highest commitment to data security protocols and is a major differentiator and benefit to her clients.
Keeping an Open Door
Over the years, Ms. Pellegrino has developed a leadership style where she remains true to herself while also establishing boundaries between work relationships and those outside the job. Although she works remotely, she maintains an "open door policy" where her team members can contact her via email and phone, even on weekends. She makes certain that her team knows they can approach her and not be intimidated by her position as the owner of the company.

As the industry evolves, Ms. Pellegrino aspires to grow Everest Discovery LLC and has plans for expanding its services and her team. Recently, the company added data breach response and artificial intelligence to its list of services and she is exploring reducing reliance on external vendors in order to boost profitability.
