The Covestro Circular Economy Program at the University of Pittsburgh represents the first graduate-level circular design academic program in the U.S. to specifically address the challenge of global waste and material use. The program focuses on research, education, and innovative advancement of circular economy principles that provide students with the opportunities and skillsets they need to design a more sustainable future.

“Through the Covestro Circular Economy Program at the University of Pittsburgh students will have the chance to become experts in creating and applying circular solutions,” said Haakan Jonsson, chairman and president of Covestro LLC. “The next generations of leaders are passionate about sustainability, and we want to encourage them to challenge assumptions and use their creativity to solve problems we may not even know exist yet.”

Covestro and the University of Pittsburgh recognize that circularity technologies are continually evolving and welcome organizations that are interested in becoming involved with the program.

The first cohort of students are set to begin coursework in the fall of 2022.
