Dr. Ajit Chaudhry Champions Preventive Dental Care and Access for All

From athlete to clinic owner, the Ontario dentist urges Canadians to take proactive steps toward oral health.

TORONTO, ON / ACCESS Newswire / December 9, 2025 / With over two decades of experience and more than 20 dental clinics built across Canada, Dr. Ajit Chaudhry is sounding the alarm on a quiet crisis: people are still waiting too long to seek dental care.

"Prevention should never be an afterthought," says Dr. Chaudhry, a general dentist with specialised expertise in bone grafting, implants, IV sedation, and cosmetic procedures. "Too many people come in when they're already in pain. By that point, the options are fewer and the costs are higher."

A Call to Action for Proactive Dental Care

Recent data from the Canadian Dental Association shows that nearly 1 in 3 Canadians avoid seeing a dentist due to cost concerns, and over 6 million Canadians live without dental insurance. Yet, early visits can save both money and health complications long-term.

"People don't realise how much oral health affects the rest of the body-heart disease, diabetes, even mental health are all connected," Dr. Chaudhry explains. "Regular cleanings and exams are the simplest way to avoid complex issues."

He encourages patients to stop seeing dentistry as reactive and instead view it as a part of their overall health strategy.

Building a Patient-First Dental System

From his first practice in Ancaster to founding Barrie Dental Arts and Playfair Dental Centre, Dr. Chaudhry has always prioritised patient experience. His clinics focus on comfort, modern technology, and skilled practitioners-without the pressure of upselling.

"We're not trying to sell you on treatment you don't need," he notes. "We're trying to make sure your long-term health is protected. And that starts with listening."

This people-first approach has helped his clinics quietly expand across Ontario and beyond. But for Dr. Chaudhry, the success is less about scale and more about impact.

Giving Back to SickKids Hospital

A longtime supporter of SickKids Hospital, Dr. Chaudhry has donated personally and through his practices.

"We've been fortunate in business, and I believe in paying that forward," he says. "SickKids is doing amazing work to help kids in crisis. Supporting them is the least we can do."

He urges others in the profession to support local causes and find ways to give back, especially in underserved communities. "Even a single volunteer day or school dental talk can change lives," he adds.

Why Personal Health Habits Matter

Outside of work, Dr. Chaudhry maintains a disciplined lifestyle shaped by his athletic background as a top-ranked junior tennis player. He works out at Lifetime Fitness, mixing cardio, strength training, and Pilates.

"Being healthy helps me be sharper at work," he says. "You can't care for others if you're running on empty."

He believes small, consistent habits are the key-both in fitness and in oral health. "Flossing and showing up to the gym have something in common: most people skip both until it's too late," he jokes.

What You Can Do

Dr. Chaudhry's advice for the public is simple:

  • Book a check-up now. Don't wait for symptoms. Early detection is everything.

  • Prioritise brushing and flossing. Twice a day. No shortcuts.

  • Ask questions. "Your dentist should explain what's going on in your mouth. If they don't, push for answers," he says.

  • Explore financing options. Many clinics offer payment plans or access to programs for those without insurance.

  • Educate kids early. Habits formed young tend to stick.
